Wearable Art Vest (Beginner) 1 or 2 days. Using a pattern without darts, participants will design a one of a kind vest using 6-10 fabrics of their choice.  Several types of embellishment can be incorporated in the vest design resulting in a beautifully classic wearable.

The back of this sample showcases a hand beaded mola from Panama.  At the waist is an antique mirrored band from Rajasthan, India and at the bottom are several tiny vests purchased in Guatemala.  Truly an international piece.

Wearable Art Jacket (Intermediate) 2 days

Using a pattern without darts or set in sleeves, participants will design a one of a kind jacket using 8-10 fabrics of their choice.  Several types of  fabric manipulation embellishment can be incorporated in the jacket design resulting in a beautifully classic wearable.

The Geisha in the center of the back is needlepoint trimmed with beads,  and the jacket contains a number of geisha fabrics, scrunched and embellished fabric, and sumptuous gold embellished seminole.

The first jacket is made from a number of batik fabrics with seminole patchwork bands on the sleeves and on the back.  No metallic embellishment.  The beautify of the fabric is allowed to shine through.

The second jacket is made from cotton fabrics with some scrunching and embellishing with threads and antique buttons.  Several seminole patchwork bands help make this a very sophisticated jacket for daytime or nighttime wear.

Flowered Collage.  I have recently added a class on flowered collage.  Students may use any image from fabric based photos, to large fabric images of people or animals.  After quilting and embellishing, the resulting piece makes a great small quilt, jacket or vest back, or panel for a dramatic purse.

This is a Flowered Collage quilt called Here Kitty Kitty.  It is heavily beaded and there is a beaded dragonfly on the right hand side.  It was featured in the January-February 2008 issue of Fons and Porters Love of Quilting.

Wearable Art Trunk Show   1 to 1 ½ hours

A trunk show of  40+ garments which participants will have the opportunity to examine and try on if they wish.  I usually ask for about 5 or so volunteers to model the garments through the audience.  No slides.
