Barbara Ackley made this jacket in two of my classes at Quilting by the Lake in 2005.  In the Embellishment class she made the  seminole patchwork topstitched  with gold thread.  The bands are trimmed with beaded strips sewn on by machine.

In the Design Class she designed and constructed the jacket.  The beautiful panels are overdyed portions of an antique kimono.  The coat won First Place at the New York State Quilt Symposium in 2006 and numerous other awards including the New York State Fair. It also won Best Amateur Entry , Vest,Jacket or Coat in the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival in 2007.

Students in the Take 12 Fat Quarter Jacket Class at the New York State Quilt Symposium, Syracuse, NY, June, 2006

Claire Welch made this jacket in my class at Marcia DeCamp's studio during the summer of 2008.  It is an easy raglan sleeve pattern which lends itself very well to piecing techniques.
